My Thoughts on Ami
I find Ami to be a very lonely girl before Usagi shows up in her life. She's sweet and kind but always being picked on and teased behind her back by the other students at Juuban Elementary. She's really smart...some think she's too smart...but that's part of who she is. Despite all the rudeness and teasing from her classmates, she manages to keep a sweet, innocent personality about her even though deep inside she's hurting. She tries to cover it by studying and keeping her life busy before Usagi shows up. Usagi brightens up her small world very quickly. Once devoted only to studying and becoming a doctor, Ami finds herself allowing some fun into her life through Usagi's flirtatious influence on her life. She becomes more friendly and seems to be much more vibrant and full of life. It no longer bothers her so much to have the other students teasing her because she has friends. The pain stays with her all her life to an extent...but the fact that Usagi basically saved her from a lonely, painful existence is what gives her the strength and the will to protect Usagi at all costs...even with her own life as she proved on several occasions throughout the series. Many people claim her to be the weakest senshi, but truth be told, without her...the senshi may not have made it at all. Without her intelligence and her minicomputer, the senshi would not have been near as prepared for the enemies coming at them nor would they have found the way to defeat many of those enemies. Without her tactical assistance and her defense techniques, the senshi wouldn't have survived for very long at all.
